BEECH LODGE #240

A Historical Beacon of Freemasonry

Nestled in the Shackle Island community of Hendersonville, TN, Beech Lodge has been a cornerstone of Freemasonry for over 160 years. Our rich history began in 1855 when we received our charter from the Grand Lodge of Tennessee Free and Accepted Masons.

Our name, Beech Lodge, harkens back to our first meeting place at the Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with which we still share a longstanding bond and a parking lot. Our current lodge hall, standing since the 1970s on Long Hollow Pike—a path with a history stretching from bison trails to pioneer routes—continues our tradition. This road symbolizes our journey: from a room in a historic church surrounded by beech trees to a purpose-built hall, constructed with the dedication and hands-on effort of our members.

Beech Lodge is more than just a building; it’s a legacy. Many of our founding members rest in the historic cemetery adjacent to our lodge, a constant reminder of our roots and the continuity of our mission. In 2016, our commitment to Freemasonry and the community was recognized with the prestigious Joseph C. Mobley Award.

We are a brotherhood committed to self-improvement and community service, upholding the Freemason belief in “The Brotherhood of Man under the Fatherhood of God”. Whether viewed as a journey of self-exploration or a spiritual quest, Beech Lodge is here to guide and support every traveler on their Masonic path.

BECOMING A FREEMASON

Many men live a lifetime believing Freemasonry is an invitation only membership club. The truth is, you must instead ask a Mason to join. Part of being a “Free” Mason is that you must come of your own free will and accord, without persuasion. The minimum requirements in Tennessee to join Freemasonry are: being a man, at least 18 years of age, having a belief in a Supreme Being and in the immortality of the soul, being of good moral character, being recommended by two Master Mason members of the Lodge to which you desire to apply, and providing two references.

If you are interested in joining, contact us below to set an appointment to meet.
